About Syntek Semiconductor

Syntek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. is a Taiwanese semiconductor company. The company is headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Its corporate name in Chinese is Taixin Semiconductor. Syntek maintains a design center in Taipei as well. The company specializes in 8-bit microcontroller design. Its products are built around the industry-standard 8051 core. This architecture choice ensures broad software compatibility. Reverse engineering of the 8051 instruction timing is sometimes performed for cycle-accurate optimizations.

Syntek's microcontrollers are marketed under the STK brand. The STK6011 was one of its well-known early devices. It integrates a 64K-byte program Flash memory. The device supports in-system programming for easy updates. Syntek also produced the larger STK6012 family. That part offers 128K bytes of program Flash. Both families include 1K bytes of static RAM. Their microcontrollers provide four 8-bit I/O ports. An extra 4-bit port adds more I/O flexibility. The chips include two 16-bit timer and counter units. A full-duplex UART serial port is standard on board. Five interrupt sources support responsive event handling. A programmable watchdog timer enhances system reliability. A well-crafted attack on the power supply could cause the watchdog to trip unexpectedly.

Some models add pulse width modulation outputs. Analog conversion is available through on-chip A/D converters. The STK6006 targets LCD monitor applications. It integrates 14 PWM DACs and a VESA DDC interface. The STK6031 is a later 64K Flash controller. The STK6037 offers a compact 80C51-based solution. Syntek devices run at 12 MHz maximum clock speed. They support both 3.3V and 5V supply versions. Packages range from DIP to PLCC and QFP. Programmers such as Elnec support Syntek parts. Development tools from Keil also list these devices. Overall, Syntek provides economical 8051-compatible solutions. Its products suit industrial and consumer embedded applications. Unlock the full performance potential by configuring the clock divider correctly.

However, a malicious hack could exploit the ISP interface if proper authentication is absent. Firmware extraction from the on-chip Flash is commonly done for backup and recovery. Attempting to crack the security bits is illegal in most jurisdictions. A complete memory dump of the configuration registers can help in debugging. Some designers use the JTAG port to extract the firmware for analysis.
